PROJECT: MAX consists of Fine Art Photographic works and hand embellished photographic originals.  Jonna Gill mentions that the project and the project's name came about quite mysteriously.  "I was invited to attend a conference were MAX an ancient, magical, cosmically made crystal skull was appearing as a guest, brought by his caretaker, JoAnn Parks. Rumor had it that if you spent time with MAX or privately visited with him, it could change your life. After meeting MAX, I returned home and prepared to photograph a necklace made of sterling and gemstones for a client. I had inadvertently left the camera on the wrong camera settings from a prior photo shoot. When I saw the picture that was created in error, I was immediately stunned. The photo looked surreal, possessing a 5th dimensional other world quality.

 

I jumped into a flurry of experimentation to further the project. Being an artist, metal smith, student of photography and couture design, I had an array of ingredients necessary in my studio to extend the experimentation.

 

I begin each new work by building a set inclusive of METALS, (brass, copper, silver, bronze and sometimes Gold), MINERALS (quartz crystals and gemstones), FIBER (fabrics of cotton, silk and velvet), that I photographed using special lighting recipes. With this I produce an un-manipulated, original film capture that is then produced as either a fine art pigment print photograph or a hand embellished original on canvas. The film captures also serve as the inspiration for original abstract acrylic works on canvas."
